Beta Read
When you‘ve completed early drafting, or you’ve run into a block, and certainly before all your ideas are final, it’s usually helpful to get a fresh perspective. A beta reader is typically a member of your target audience and provides feedback on how the characters, plot, and other big-picture story elements are coming across to them. Unlike an editor, a beta reader doesn’t offer suggestions, but their feedback can give you valuable insight about how a reader may react to your story and whether or not your intentions are getting across as you would like them to. With this insight, you can make adjustments to bring your story more in line with your vision.
