I DO NOT put my clients' work into generative AI or chat bots. Your readers are human, and I am a human. It doesn't make sense for me to ask AI about your story arc, characters, etc. when it's my job to pay attention to my human reactions to these and anticipate how your target audience is likely to respond. I also value your privacy and confidentiality. I do not use AI to write feedback. The feedback I give you is all human.

Some software/tech companies may be less scrupulous about privacy and confidentiality. I don't have control over their use of your intellectual property. I will do my best to adjust settings for privacy on the software I edit or read your work in. Microsoft Word is the industry standard for editing. I avoid using Google Docs for privacy reasons. The software I use will be agreed upon in the contract/statement of work.

Note: Proofreaders and copy editors often use software plugins and may use AI to quickly clean up common errors like double spaces and accidentally repeated words like "the the". But they will still use their human understanding for more complex, nuanced, and contextual issues with grammar and usage. A legitimate editor will not charge you just to run your work through spell-check or AI.
